I couldn't get in to see my family doctor today, so started calling a bunch of tele-health companies. Thankfully, got connected with a doc + a prescription. 🙏🏻

At the same time, Clearwater's emergency room remained closed through to Sunday evening due to staffing issues, with folks advised to head to RIH for care. This was the fifth closure this month:

A friend's daughter, also with suspected strep throat, waited at RIH for three hours Sunday before she gave up and left.

They were booking into June 13th. "Sorry, we just don't have any physicians or staff." I was also told to try my family doctor first thing in the morning, or head to the ER at RIH and wait it out.

I was told only one (!) nurse practitioner was working that day. One. And that they'd give me a call back in the next 24 hours to triage my case, hopefully before the day was out. Kamloops is not small. Population: almost 100K.

Got sick Friday. Cough. Sore throat. Fever. Chills. Tested negative for COVID. Over-the-counter meds weren't really helping. My guess was strep throat. I called our local urgent primary care centre at 10 a.m. Sunday when they opened the lines.
