Sorry, it was Fedora 41 🤦. Anyway, I did the same test inside a VM (4 cores, 16 GB of ram) using a debloated Windows ( with no UI effects. Surprisingly, numbers improved a lot (4 minutes and 54 seconds), OEM bloatware is still a thing I guess.

Make your conclusions, but those 54 seconds keep me on Nix side. If you put Containers and other languages like JavaScript in the equation, the DevEx on Linux feels lighter and the numbers suggest the same. It was a fun experiment.

And this is Fedora 31 on the same machine (my daily driver, a lot more stuff installed) - 4 mins and 46 seconds using the performance energy profile

I've been playing with Renaissance (JVM Benchmark) Suite (db-shootout, reactors, finagle-http). This is Windows 11 with the OOB Lenovo Experience - 5 mins and 40 seconds using the performance energy profile
