Is #Venezuela to #Trump what #Austria was to #Hitler? I bet you a Pound to a Penny he doesn't stop there.

If you give people untrammelled power they will take advantage of it to the detriment of all. And if you refuse to learn from history, quoting Godwin’s Law or some other bullshit, they’ll keep doing it until the end of time. Which will come quicker than you think. #Venezuela

I may be naïve, but I genuinely don’t understand how one country can unilaterally storm into another and abduct its leader, no matter how illegitimate they consider that leader to be, without that being an act of war. What am I missing? #Venezuela

Could we all agree to make 2026 the year where we can cope with nuance again? It would make everything so much more pleasant for everyone!

Ever wondered whether it's just a coincidence that simplistic, populist talking points can always be conveyed in less than 260 characters, but countering them properly requires considerably more? 🤔

Which is precisely the reason that #Brexit could not and can never work. It's easy to make a case to the easily persuaded that deregulation is a good thing, until they understand what that means to them personally. Funnily enough, nobody wants low quality food and fewer rights.

There's a difference between being obliged to represent an unsavoury client before undertaking a role in politics, and choosing to represent one whilst in power. Sadly social media users have not the patience, intellect, or desire to understand it. And that's why we're fucked.

We’ve allowed lobbying to get out of control. We’ve allowed the media to get out of control. We’ve allowed, often bot-fuelled, to social media fringe trends dictate national policy. In short, we’ve lost sight of what is good and true.

Liz Truss may be the most comically inept, dumb, dishonest & charisma-free political in modern British history. I used to follow UK politics day in, day out, for a living, but I haven’t lived there for a decade & I still don’t understand how Truss (!) became prime minister (!!)

Farmers should pay inheritance tax, but they need to be paid fairly for their work to enable them to do so. Right now, most farms' income is ridiculously low for the effort and risk involved. That's the battle that needs to be had.

If you're paying 5p for your Christmas veg, that 5p includes transport from the farm to the packer, prep, packaging, refrigeration, transport to the distribution centre, storage, transport to the shop, light, heat, shop wages etc. THAT'S why farmers can't afford inheritance tax.

Compare and contrast the response to the murders of Charlie Kirk and Rob Reiner. If you think they give a flying fuck about anything but tribalism, you’re sadly mistaken.

This is how @ChrisMasonBBC described a male Tory Chancellor doing the same thing: "Plans, or even just options, can be floated... Reaction to them can be tested. Opponents can be teased or wrongfooted." Part of "the choreography and theatre that surrounds a Budget" apparently.

Looks like, having failed to unseat Reeves for a second time, we’re now due to have a few days of more wall-to-wall Lammy bashing. I’m sure it’s pure coincidence that it’s just the women and black men that are hounded in the media.

Even at the time, Johnson’s wild weekend in Umbria felt somewhat suspicious. With this new information, you can understand why some are now calling it outright treasonous

Since we released this @johnsweeneyroar @BylineTV documentary two years ago, more information has come to light that Boris Johnson went to this meeting to discuss a 'backchannel' to Putin with Alexander Lebedev, who was working for the Kremlin in Crimea at the time

Under 14 years of Tory rule, they put up your taxes, increased energy bills and tripled the national debt.
