Brilliant to see @RealLennieJames win at tonight’s BAFTAs. Such a talented actor, been a huge fan since Buried.

On holiday in Greece trying to watch the Olympics. Greek TV understandably has very little interest in the fortunes of British athletes and is focusing on their team. As a result I’ve been watching a LOT of water polo.

That was a better performance by England in the sense that Attack of the Clones was better than The Phantom Menace

Really enjoyed the new Punchdrunk production Viola’s Room. A much needed reset IMO after the bombast of recent events like The Burnt City. Intimate, claustrophobic and creepy.

Rarely these days do I ever watch a surf film all the way through. But Chasing Seconds is pretty special, mainly due to the incredible tube riding of 18yr old Caity Simmers, who visibly figures out the wave across the run time of the film

If Spurs somehow do the impossible and take points off Man City I think I might have to take a season off hating them.

Watched La Haine on the big screen tonight for the first time in ages. It’s still great, obviously, but what stands out today is the cinematography and staging. Every scene has so much going on spatially & visually. Also the sound design, which was way ahead of its time.

How did the rebranding of creepy crawlies to ‘mini beasts’ happen? Was Big Invertebrate involved?

Emily the Criminal has just landed on Netflix in the UK. Watch it! We need more smart, well directed, low budget thrillers like this.

In documentaries, the tech to make anyone say anything (in audio) is now ubiquitous. Development is (always) less regulated than Production. If I was a commissioning editor, my first question when presented with any sizzle/taster would be ‘Did you use AI for any of the sync?’
