What do the Johnsons do for fun on a Saturday afternoon? Play with a new (to us) tech tool of course! Q made a Notebook LM for her ELA class, I made one to look at PLC research, and Chris made one for his Moot court lessons. Yep, we are full on nerds. #IETC25

I just uploaded my resume, letters of recommendation, and a recent essay for an award application to Notebook LM. I asked it to make a podcast highlighting my career. WOW do I sound amazing. π€£ Is this the future of resumes? I know I'd be sending it if I were looking. #IETC25

Education is a really hard profession. Like really hard. This is your official reminder to find time to make it fun too. Things get heavy in this job. Having people who bring you joy in your circle is so important! #IETC25

The students planned a scavenger hunt for our principal and then live streamed it to the whole school. It was such a cool, student-led group effort. I'm not crying... You're crying.

It's October 26th. Why is that important? Less than a week until November 1, which is early college decision deadline. To say my inbox is flooded with senior personal statements is an understatement...

"Which value is your priority todayβwhy is that + what would it look like?" One of my favorite things about having a solid system of foundation of classroom values is how we can then integrate them into everything else we do. Today? Our opening seminar reflection:

I'm in the October slump. I've always said this is the hardest month in education. I was exhausted today, and then this sweet girl asked me when I was coming back to her class to do water color (we did this on a Fun Day 2 weeks ago). She hugged me. And that's what I needed today.

I got to participate in @wewillwrite_com today with some 8th grade ELA students. It was so fun. They are all so creative, so I was so pumped when my response won a round! What a great way to incorporate creative writing.

My librarian sent this to me yesterday. I didn't even know there was a day to celebrate coaches. I thought I would pass it on to all of you! Happy Instructional Coaches Day (yesterday) to all of my coach friends!!

When is the last time you saw a full-class round table on the reason behind the migration patterns of wildebeests? For me? Never before today. The teacher is piloting OpenSciEd, and I am LOVING it! Data analysis, model creation/revising, and rich data-driven discussions today! π

When your friend comes in from another state to speak at a conference, it is mandatory to take him on a walking tour of the state capital. He was so thrilled when I made him stand by Abe Lincoln for a tourist photo! Thanks for playing along, @thomascmurray!
