This amazing Fairy Bridge can be found in the woodland at Glen Creran near Oban. In spring, the moss floored woodland surrounding the bridge is covered in bluebells and wild garlic. A truly magical place. (Photos by Al Beattie)

The yellow gorse is beginning to bloom, the daffodils are sprouting up and we are keeping a keen eye out for the first lambs of the season. Spring has arrived!

The Battle of the Pass of Brander (Loch Awe) in Scotland forms a small part of what's known as the Wars of Scottish Independence, which was a victory for King Robert Bruce over the MacDougalls of Argyll. The date is not exactly know but the late summer of 1308 is most likely.

Corryvreckan Whirlpool (from the Gaelic Coire Bhreacain meaning "cauldron of the speckled seas" or "cauldron of the plaid") is a narrow strait between the islands of Jura & Scarba, nr Oban. It's the 3rd largest in the world & the resulting maelstrom can be heard over 10km away!

Where will you explore this year? The Dwarfie Stane, Isle of Hoy (Orkney), is possibly the most unusual chambered tomb we've visited and was hollowed out from a single piece of sandstone over 5,000 years ago. Inside is a passage leading to two rounded rooms.
