Did you know that healthcare is responsible for 4.6% of total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions worldwide? If you're a trainee with an idea on how to reduce the carbon footprint of your healthcare institution, our faculty mentors can help!.

Current projects: Our very own @GordieBest is working with Dr. Smith and @maryhanna613 on a project to encourage patients to bring their own reusable bags and water bottles to their day surgery to reduce waste!

To do this, we plan to connect trainees who are interested in research/QI projects at their institution with faculty mentors from across the country to help them design, implement and measure the impact of their ideas. 4/6.

We know many trainees across the country share this objective, but that it can be challenging for them to implement change within their institutions. We hope our organization will give med students and residents the tools to achieve positive change within their communities. 3/6.

With the rapidly unfolding climate and broader ecological crisis, our goal is to reduce the environmental impact and carbon footprint of healthcare while upholding the highest standards of patient care. 2/6.
