When I started my #PhD in #globalhealth #academia, I wanted to integrate #datascience into my work. At the time, this was unconventional for my department and I hit a lot of road blocks on my way. In the end, I believe I achieved my goal. Doing these things helped.

webR v0.1.0 has just been released! I'm super excited to see what people create by using webR in their own projects ๐. The docs are at https://t.co/VhzF2Co3t4 and I've written an introductory blog post talking more about the kind of things webR can do at https://t.co/56ficIti3l.

Should you write and maintain an R package accessing a web API? Here are our tips for deciding, and for doing it if you go for it.

MeSHy but necessary work by @dhimmel. Now you can simply download the json exports. ๐ #ontology #dag @NLM_NIH
https://t.co/2ZAL9MUMRk
A bit about the architecture: 1. We start with the RDF exports of MeSH 2. Load these into Python's rdflib 3. Run SPARQL queries to extract tables 4. build nxontology graph and tabular exports Steps 2/3 were challenging, not used to thinking in triples & can be frustrating.
