I have been wondering how to make the councillors of @EastRenCouncil understand the impact of their decisions around social care charges. Here is the difference in raising £1m from the employed vs disabled. Now tell me it's okay because it's happening elsewhere.

The @scotgov needs to take action on this. Councils like @EastRenCouncil are on the brink of joining in because everyone else is doing it!

Social care support is how many disabled people and unpaid carers are able to access some of their most basic human rights. It's an utter disgrace that councils continue to charge people to access essential care and support! #CarersCantWait

The lack of data collection IMO allows the continued lack of ambition and appalling treatment of disabled people. Great job by @InclusionEurope

Inclusion indicators reflect lived experiences and challenges faced by people with intellectual disabilities and their families. In this video we take a closer look at the findings of the report and why it’s important to close the disability data gap.

Lastly, we used Canva to present the information. Again, Margot used PAS to choose the pictures, the backgrounds, font, and colours. It's a laborious process if you can't use your hands or spoken words. But I think it's worth it. Most importantly, so does Margot.

The facts about the animals were also chosen by PAS. We searched the Internet for good facts about the Indian Rhinoceros and Asiatic Lion. Margot chose the facts she liked through PAS.

Spelling also uses PAS. The alphabet is grouped from each vowel. 5 sets. Abcd, efgh, ijklmn, opqrst, uvwxyz. Of course, Margot is only 6, so she still makes mistakes desert was spelled as beesert. We check with PAS that we have the correct word.

PAS to choose the am went like this. Do you want core words or spelling? Core words yes. Core words 1 or 2. Core words 1. Yes. Would you like I my me he she we. Yes. Would you like I my me. Yes. I. Yes. Then the word gets written down. This is repeated for every word.

I, am, see and my were core words. These are a list of 60 words that are grouped together in two sets. Margot accesses these through Partner Assisted Scanning. (PAS) A process where you offer the groups and Margot says yes or no to the words.

Margot was introduced to the idea of topic work and discussed a few ideas. The following week she decided it was on endangered animals. She then wrote a beginning sentence. "I am visiting India to see in my far desert."..

This just isn't good news. The @scotgov may think they are protecting people but in reality it's an extra barrier to employing the people you want to.

Dare I suggest that if we stopped treating people as humans rather than thinking they should be in institutions, isolated and is if their problems are their own fault, costs would stop spiralling...

It's horrifying and frightening to realise that decisions about our children's lives are being made by elected members who hold such prejudiced views about disabled children. And then we wonder why ASN/SEND children and their families end up in crisis...
