Update: I have received all the complaints that residents have made against the new D4 Supervisor Beya Alcaraz's pet store. One of them, from 2023, shows a customer who bought a toy for their bird, only to discover a mouse trapped inside. Read more in Power Play tonight.
EXCLUSIVE: Last week, Mayor Daniel Lurie appointed Beya Alcaraz, a 29yo former pet store owner, to be supervisor of the Sunset. @ggreschler reports the store she owned had hundreds of dead mice, feces, trash & a freezer filled w/ dozens of dead pets. https://t.co/vrZWeUf5bi

Great news for USC: Softies, a smash burger joint near campus, has filed for a beer & wine license. There are, like, two places where you can get a drink in the neighborhood, so this is huge. The owners didn't respond when I asked what drinks they plan to serve.

A high-ranking USC professor is accused of having an affair with a student — then later having children with her.

It's unclear if the affair violated university policy. The professor now has children with the former student.

NEW: San Francisco is infamous for its slow, expensive & corrupt permitting system. So, when Mayor Daniel Lurie announced a multi-million $ software contract to fix it with OpenGov, many rejoiced. But behind the scenes, city staff raised red flags 🚩 about the contract.

USC has no comment on the Trump administration’s offer of preferential funding, except for: “We are reviewing the Administration’s letter.”
Exclusive: The White House is calling it the “Compact,” a sweeping set of operating principles it wants universities to adopt in exchange for federal funding preference

USC's Turning Point USA chapter will hold a vigil for Charlie Kirk on campus Thursday night. Looks like security will be far more strict than at typical club events.

I’m a college senior and have never received so many texts from friends about a news event — not even when Donald Trump was shot. Charlie Kirk clearly matters to college students in a way that few other politicians or commentators do. (Whether they agree or disagree with him)
