Great job by Zack capturing the essence of exactly why Danny V meant so much to the Massachusetts high school sports community for the last four decades.
"If there was a Mount Rushmore of people who cover high school, he would have all of the busts. It would just be him.". A salute to Danny Ventura, the humble titan of Massachusetts high school sports, as his one-of-a-kind career comes to a close:

Congrats to former Dedham High star Sean Fitzpatrick (@fitzman5) on bringing home the Mass Publinx crown. Much deserved for a good guy.
“I’m very excited, and the APL, specifically, I’ve wanted for a while,” said Fitzpatrick after the round. “I did lose a playoff in 2018 to Owen Quinn, so it’s good to finally get some payback.”. Read More:

Rumor has it that people are blaming @In_The_Slot for forcing @BostonHeraldHS out of the biz because power rankings have made it much more difficult to pick upset specials. Sad.
Congrats to @BostonHeraldHS on his retirement. Danny V has been synonymous with high school sport for as long as i can remember. He has been a passionate advocate for the students of Massachusetts in every way possible. Being picked on the wrong end of an upset special was a.

Holy cow there are about to be an insane number of tributes roll in for Donato, and every single one of them so well-deserved with the crazy amount of people he affected or influenced in the Mass high school sports community over the years. Count me among them. Simply the best.
Danny Ventura, the face of high school sports in New England for over the last 30 years, is retiring from the Boston Herald in August. Ventura started at the Herald in 1991 and has since served as the go-to source for information for coaches, student-athletes, and ADs.

Not surprised by this in the least. In addition to fostering an elite program/culture, Costy and the @WalpoleBaseball staff are as classy as it gets in HS sports. No one deserves to have their hands on that trophy more than Coach Tompkins, a true legend. So happy for these guys.
Coach Chris Costello insisted that @walpoleAD longtime coach Bill Tompkins (right) get the MIAA Baseball Division 2 trophy at home plate when it was over. “That’s yours … you built this.”

This is when we really miss Don Fredericks. .
Mansfield gets second and third with one out, late time call from the coach originally ruled a balk to give the Hornets the lead. After a 35 min. delay and multiple phone calls, umps reverse the call. Walpole gets two outs to escape. It’s 1-1 heading to bottom 11. #hockomock.

Always tough following a legend, but a fantastic choice by Braintree to fill those shoes. Dave is one of the true great guys in the coaching ranks, and a pretty damn good basketball mind to boot. He'll be missed in Walpole. Good luck coach.
