Truth, justice and the (TV) New Zealand way TVNZ is being held to account for holding power to account. One important factor subsumes all the claims of poor safety, lies, cheating, animus, misquotes and anonymous sources in this notable defamation case. https://t.co/TDQ1ZMaquE

The Australian? Surely not
Congrats to our new, in house Pentagon press corps The Federalist, the Epoch Times, OAN, Turkish newspaper Akşam, three individuals from the Turkish state-run Anadolu Agency, two Turkish freelancers, a reporter for the Australian, an Afghan freelancer; and three lesser-known

After covering the Pentagon for 35 years, I’m turning in my building badge today rather than submit to DoD’s vague new policies that restrict my right to engage in ordinary and legal news gathering. My Pentagon press corps colleagues and I will continue to inform the public

Oh, about bloody time. We were becoming league.
France have waged war on scrum feeding. This season, they have applied a World Rugby-sanctioned trial forcing the ball to be put in down the middle of the tunnel (as well as other tests for maul “swimming” and orange cards). The results have been stark. https://t.co/OmWmgyohJU

Sounds like what rugby union officials used to do to rugby league defectors back in the day... and league used to laugh at their "pettiness"... #NRL
#NRL 🏈 Players and their agents face dire consequences if they defect to rugby union’s rebel competition R360 in the wake of the NRL’s ruthless move to stave off the poaching threat. See the punishment details: https://t.co/kk5QaaYVFK

Almost all of reporters featured on wall in the Pentagon — who collectively have been covering DoD for decades if not more than a century — are set to hand in their credentials. Based on public statements, only one reporter on the wall will be credentialed by the end of tomorrow.

Update—Two conservative outlets will *not* sign the Pentagon's press policy: @NEWSMAX and @WashTimes. They join @TheAtlantic, @washingtonpost, @CNN, @nytimes, and more in refusing the pledge. (@OANN *will* sign) Our piece in @washingtonpost: https://t.co/LD7QlEVqlI

The Washington Post and other major news outlets have refused to sign the Defense Department’s restrictive new media policy, citing First Amendment concerns.

🚨New statement from @WashingtonPost Executive Editor @murraymatt on the Pentagon's new press access policy. https://t.co/G1chmvQB1P
The Pentagon Press Association said the government’s policy for journalists covering the Defense Department still appears “designed to stifle a free press and potentially expose us to prosecution."

Kerrin Leoni's vote of 75k before specials is well below Wayne Brown but in itself would be the second highest personal vote anyone will get in NZ politics - even at the general election next year, where most electorate winners muster mid teens to mid 20,000s

New Waipa mayor Mike Pettit (defeating Susan O'Regan by almost 1000 votes) now must leave his job as principal of Cambridge Primary School after 31 years. But Cambridge News reports he's happy it's in good hands as his wife Nic is current vice principal.

ACT local has won a sole local board seat in Orakei, where it fielded 3 candidates against (the Nats') Communities and Residents ticket, which took the other six positions. That is 1 elected from the total of 12 ACT local candidates across Auckland.

Wayne Brown's vote total is comparatively small at 146,000 (but on a small turnout of under 25% after Friday's returns) - Len Brown got 230k and 160k, Phil Goff in the 180ks both times. And Brown's margin over Leoni at 90k is huge, but Goff over Tamihere in 2019 was 100k.
