To summarise, for United it is about building a BASE team which is cohesive yet individual dominant enough to find solutions and be effective within 1v1 situations - this base hasn't been built post SAF and has always required tactical security to be effective, whilst the league

Under amorim, United sat off in a back 5 which provided another overload in the last line to this time protect, upon regain, the team often kept the ball to circulate. However, this idea did evolve into a more transitional game in the second season. I assume, this gave players

Going back to issue of fitness. Carrick has applied approaches in both the mid to low block which look to apply pressure on the ball player, with the aim to win back and counter. I am waiting for this idea to progress into a 424 mid block which aims to intercept the ball opposed

Returning back to previous. This idea may have exposed players short term (as it is now), affecting results and performances but maximising and recruiting to this idea provides a stronger platform and higher ceiling. From this platform-foundation based around 1v1 dominance, the

As stated in 2024, +1 overloads was the 'tactical' solution/security for the team, which however doesn't truly align to the clubs longer term philosophy and provide the higher ceiling. https://t.co/F1mayiACTk
From a technical standpoint, United has been held back from apply 1v1 strategies mainly in central areas, where they require an overload to bypass m2m pressure. United hasn't dominated central 3v3's effectively enough which calls for others players to help progress the ball.

Compared to keeping a static +1 overload, which creates a favourable 4v3. A common byproduct of the base 343 is having an overload in each phase of play. This static overload provides an 'escape' through the spare man for the central players. It may help short term through

A higher ceiling aligned to the clubs true philosophy. 1v1 in possession to then either progress play individually or find the spare man dynamically. Applying pressure within a hybrid approach to win the ball back out possession, to counter attack.

Removing the +1 centrally, leaving a 3v3 in the middle of the park has affected performances, due to [short term] exposure of limitations. However, this caters towards a more 1v1 philosophy and therefore a more player based solution approach, opposed to system/playbook solutions

There is a strong case for fitness. Reducing training time (assuming a reduction in ~15mins in sessions) and the extra day off has affected endurance, technical basics and connectivity later on in halves. Aerobic endurance [maintenance] is required to uphold skill and repeated
