3/4 TF exchange may thus be a mechanism to regulate both burst duration and burst frequency upon changing TF concentrations. Such coupling of burst duration and frequency has previously been observed by @gregorscience in Drosophila development.

2/4 If transcription factor (TF) exchange is required to prolong transcriptional bursts, then reducing TF exchange by reducing TF concentration should shorten bursts. In agreement, reduction of the Gal4 concentration doesn't only reduce burst frequency, but also burst duration.
