With study after study demonstrating tens (likely hundreds) of billions of dollars in needed transmission investment, we’re nowhere near facing a transmission overbuild situation. But the risks of our current transmission under build exist now, every day. @wiresgroup
Most people I speak with assume utilities all want to build or even over-build transmission because it is good capital to have in rate base.They are not aware that the big $ is in generation, and starving transmission increases the value of owned generation. That happens a lot.
