the thing i truly hated about stranger things 5 is that the gay characters never explicitly express their sexuality. it’s always “i DONT like girls” instead of “i DO like guys” and it just feels so disingenuous. this is a netflix show about monsters, you can say the word gay

Gerran is officially not returning to Ludwig season 2. But we knew that because of the hair. And because of the other show he’s filming but the hair is a really big part of it. Rest in peace DC Simon Evans.

and “not queerbaiting” just means more companies and providers can get away with queerbait as long as it’s subtle enough that queer fandom communities will start fights over who’s is “worse”. it’s also not fair to treat bylers as if they were insane for falling for it.

i’ve been a jl fan and a byler fan and i can definitely say that jl’s queerbait was more explicit and easier to pick up on from an outside perspective but byler was 100% queerbait too and its not fair to dismiss others, and making the promo of stranger things seem “normal” -

byler and johnlock and klance and destiel can all be queerbait. it’s not an exclusive term. you don’t need to beat down on other queer people for being exploited just because you think your ship has some kind of superiority because it was “different” and “worse” queerbait
