I read a piece a zillion years ago about how the big 2010 gerrymandering bit republicans in the ass because the harder you push it, the thinner your safety buffer, and the more vulnerable you are to getting wiped out in big wave elections.

My amateur political scientist take on 2024 was that the Biden admin was obsessed with how they couldn’t reliably reach disengaged voters with their media operations, all the while ignoring the most wide reaching information network: prices. Cable news reaches X% of people,.
💯 this. We’ve got an administration being driven by “own the libs” and “lie about the numbers.” Funny thing is people know when they’re unemployed or their prices are skyrocketing. And they hate when the government lies and it tells them their lived experience is wrong.

Nothing in this announcement actually articulates what the harm of SB9 is.
Just signed an Emergency Executive Order to prohibit SB 9 applications within the Palisades Fire area. SB 9 wasn't intended to be used in the wake of the worst natural disaster L.A. has ever seen. I thank @CAgovernor for working with me to get this done.

Strongly agree with the conclusion of this @mattyglesias post - more people should be funding the YIMBY movement. (And we’re happy to be a resource to any other funders who’re interested!) Still early days but wracking up impressive successes left and right.

And now I've stayed up till 4am working on the next layer of insane things. Turns out FPGA synthesizers will just silently optimize away a bunch of important math.
I've just spent a week and a half working on a memory bug that turned out to not be a bug at all but was instead a freak edge case in my test procedures. I am both elated and am having mild chest pains. Also, Claude will never tell you "looks good to me! how are you testing?".

I am a little weirded out that this group can basically sue to gain quasi-governmental access and powers.
