New all-electric Local Link route 438 starts Monday 22 May, connecting villages north of Galway to Galway City, Headford and Tuam with 3 buses/day, 7 days/week, bringing a number of villages who were not previously served by regular public transport on to the network.

Nice to see printed timetables in Limerick station for the expanded @Buseireann Scariff and Mitchelstown services introduced under the Connecting Ireland programme.

National Fares Strategy summary published last week: rail/bus fares outside Dublin will be based on a flat charge and a charge based on km as the crow flies. I built a calculator where you can vary both charges and see the impact on intercity rail fares:

From next month the 101 bus, which serves Drogheda, Balbriggan and Dublin every hour, will switch to a 24 hour service with buses every 20-30 mins during the day and hourly through the night.

From next month there will be twice as many buses every day on the 133 Wicklow-Dublin route, with frequencies increasing from every hour to every 30 mins.

In an ideal world it would be obvious to us all that parking your vehicle entirely on the footpath near a primary school is anti-social and wrong, and a road traffic offence; in the meantime it’s great to see fines starting to being issued in Limerick.

In addition, bus journeys in Dublin have also increased (off a higher base) over 2019 levels. By Week 8 the 2019-23 increase had reached 10%. Great to see such an increase in numbers especially outside the capital.
