There's something called stochastic resonance, where the introduction of random noise can increase the amplitude of (every!) resonant signal because the noise is coupled into the resonances. I think this is why we prefer incoherent, organic light. It's noise for us to feed on!.

@ChernobylIvan @drgurner @pourfairelevide That's a misleading description of the research I did in the 1990s. My main findings were (1) that dreaming is not generated by the same ACh mechanism as REM sleep and (2) that it is driven by mesocortical/mesolimbic SEEKING; i.e., that it's motivated ('wishful'?) mental activity.

What's this? Oh it's a sunken ancient site in Egypt that looks nothing like Egyptian architecture and is connected into the water table via a matrix of underground shafts so it's perpetually flooded, yeah they have tried to drain it, it just fills up again. Anyway moving on.
