You tell an American that the world is not their plaything to order about, and watch how red in the face they get. It doesn't matter how educated, how "polite" they are - there is a bone deep entitlement they've never interrogated, and never will.

This is btw, a deeply held belief even among "liberal" Americans, that really only bubbles up to the surface when any opposition to foreign interventions are broached. "Well it's better that we're in charge. Think of what Russia or China would do!".
