Very weak evidence of homework being useful, especially for younger age groups. Greens onto a winner here and a good example of evidence based policy.
Not satisfied with school striking for climate action, the Greens want to scrap homework for kids! Wonder what voting parents will make of that idea? ๐.

Absolute best woopsie of the night on #Newsnight : Northern Ireland voter when asked if UK lifeboats were strong enough for the Brexit storms ahead responds with a straight face & says of course, sure if not we can build our own, we built the TITANIC.

You wouldnโt know whether to laugh or scream: 7 universities, hundreds of years and no woman president EVER and they ask if there is too much gender balance ๐ฑ
RTร @rtenews reporter asking me if I think "there might not now be too much gender balance?" Too much balance??! Hope they use my reply!!

Property is the most significant form of wealth in Ireland. If we want to increase the taxation of wealth, the first place to start is to increase property tax. Ours is woefully low. #PrimeTime We have the only left wing parties in Europe that oppose property tax.

2 contributors to Boris Johnson slot on @TodaySOR listed several former PMs who could step in David Cameron, Gordon Brown, John Major. And I'm thinking, isnt last PM still around THERESA MAY. I wonder what made everyone forget her. What makes her different . ummm let me see. .

Three specific groups of No voters evident so far:.1) people opposed to liberalizing social agenda.2) people who favour liberal agenda but unhappy with specific wordings.3) people who didnโt feel they had enough info and voted no, a rational thing to do. #referendum2024.

So many of these are UK retailers . Brexit spillovers, the Irish high street needs to look to Europe for new directions. EU chains Motivo, Adolfo Dominguez, Intimissimi, Bimba y Lola, Sรฉzane, Inwear, Marco Polo and a few cafes and restaurants on the main street would be great.
Another blow for Cork's Patrick's Street. Monsoon/Accessorize is not reopening their stores there. The street is already losing.Debenhams, Laura Ashley, Oasis, Warehouse, Easons and Argos.

#corkprotest a dreary little event. But a massive inconvenience to city traders trying their best to keep businesses alive, several forced to close their doors for a couple of hours while many customers stayed out of the city.

I have my bestest gรบna on, my equality pin up and my Vรณtail 100 badge and Iโm on my way to the รras. What a privilege, so excited.๐
Having organised a series of events to mark the centenary of (some) women getting the vote in Britain and Ireland, President and Sabina Higgins will host a Garden Party at รras an Uachtarรกin this week, to pay tribute to the #suffragette movement.

Huge thanks to @BrianOD_News of @rtenews for delivering a fabulous Annual Philip Monahan Lecture tonight. A first โvirtualโ Monahan lecture and a triumph. Thank you for painting an extraordinary picture of the drama & intensity of the last 12 months of US politics. @UCC @GovUCC

Papers full of speculation about presidential voting patterns. Here is a fact: there is no national funding for research on elections or referendums in Ireland. Not from @IrishResearch or @HousingPress We are a total anomaly among our Euro neighbors.

All the same tired old tropes we hear every time voting rights are extended. maturity, not that interested, they might do some crazy voting, things are grand as they are. 100 yrs ago these were the arguments used against working class men and all women.

Lovely moment for @JamesOConnorTD nominating @MichealMartinTD for Taoiseach. @JamesOConnorTD is the eighth youngest TD elected to Dรกil รireann. He has a great chapter with an account of his campaign in How Ireland Voted 2020, due out in September.

I hope members of the PAC are listening to @ConorUCCLaw on @rtenews The president is not answerable to the Dail. Questioning expenditure of office of president in an election campaign is clearly a political stunt. It demeans the PAC.

#Liveline was profoundly depressing today; conflation of different aspects of the war of independence, rejecting commemoration is not celebration. Simplistic, one-dimensional nationalism. Wldnt make u optimistic abt capacity for a mature discussion on a potential United Ireland.
