I don’t buy the spheres-of-influence framing, at least not yet. For this theory to hold, the U.S. would have to de-facto accept East Asia as China’s exclusive domain and accept Eastern Europe/the Caucasus as Russia’s area. There’s no evidence this is happening right now. (1/2)
Russia and China are presenting no meaningful resistance to the US's effective colonization of Venezuela. If this is truly a new "spheres of influence" world order, the next test will be if China makes moves vs. Taiwan or Russia escalates vs. Ukraine and the US does nothing.
