feeling so dire I’m almost glad i have to go in for a medical procedure this week. like oh good a doctor approved way to translate this feeling into the physical suffering I probably deserve.

haven’t even gotten to the POV of the firstborn son who was disabled in an accident yet, robbing him of his birthright and his father’s favor; forcing his brother to take his place. probably I’m going to be normal about it.

being asked to be the one who begs your prodigal sister to come home because she “loved you best” and not knowing if the exiled sibling’s love condemns you in the eyes of the others. wanting it anyway; to be the one someone loves best

the shifting alliances/loyalties!! the petty childhood rivalries that calcify into something deadly!! the way they’re all putting up a front that cracks under any pressure but are all too invested in the illusion to admit it.

am assuming if you follow me a book about a bunch of fucked up siblings bound by love and guilt and duty and their generations long compact with an eldritch bog is naturally of interest to you. but in case you need more convincing, some favorite passages from THE BOG WIFE so far:
