Excited to share my latest paper published in the JSPA! While #VirtualReality isn't a magic bullet to the World Series, it can - and SHOULD - have a huge impact at every level of professional #baseball. Take a look at how VR can develop players here: ⚾

Couldn’t disagree more! I can’t stand Madrid now, but the golden days of Ronaldo, Zidane, Becks and co…now that was something worth watching every week!!.

At the turn of the century, Real Madrid broke the world transfer record five times in a row. But the Galactico era quickly turned sour. Now they have a defined culture, success, and arguably no Galacticos at all. And they are more likeable for it. šŸ“ @Zonal_Marking.

Harry Kane:. 32 of his 54 goals were scored against. San Marino.Albania.Bulgaria.Montenegro.Panama.Kosovo.Lithuania .Malta.Andorra.Nigeria.Scotland.Senegal.Slovenia. Add the 18 penalties. It means he's scored 4 goals in decent games.

BREAKING: Cristiano Ronaldo scores all 4 goals in Al-Nassr’s 4-0 win at Al-Wehda, passing 500 League goals in his career. He’s now scored 61 hat-tricks, 30 before he was 30, 31 since he turned 30. He’s now 38. Astounding. Congrats 🐐 ⁦@Cristiano⁩ šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

You can find our new paper in the journal of Entertainment Computing shortly. A big thank you to the co-authors (including a certain @FPL_Raptor) and – of course – the 15 players who took part. We hope our work can help even just a handful of people in the wonderful FF community!.

7. It is beyond the scope of our work to discuss the pros and (mostly) cons of gambling in general, but in relation to FF, it can certainly be a +ve ALTERNATIVE to traditional betting. For some, however, the financial aspect of FF is important…and this can have a -ve effect.

6. Skill plays a part in FF success. But so does LUCK and EFFORT (arguably to a greater extent than skill). Remember this when a last-minute own-goal wipes out your CS, or a manager surprisingly rests half of his team. Bad fantasy scores DOES NOT EQUAL bad football knowledge.

5. There are ~10 million people playing this game…spoiler alert: you probably won’t be #1 (sorry!). You will have many a bad gameweek and ACCEPTING this is key. Remember the ups when experiencing the downs, and when experiencing the ups embrace them…they won’t be there forever!

4. Controversial (given that it somewhat contradicts the next two factors), but true. It is clear that success is linked to more positive experiences. How you balance these seemingly incompatible ideas is key and it is something that unfortunately we don’t have answers for…yet.

3. This one’s big (some would say it’s worthy of a new study…). Too much online involvement – particularly via social media – can amplify bad gameweeks, but interestingly, not enough and you may be missing out on the positives (the ā€œsense of communityā€). BALANCE is ESSENTIAL.

2. Investing lots of time on FF is not necessarily a bad thing…UNLESS it results in you being late for work, neglecting life admin chores, or reducing time spent elsewhere (e.g., socialising or exercising). FF time is like money: spend only what you can afford.

1. We’re all guilty of forgetting this from time to time, but FF is a GAME. It shouldn’t be taken too seriously. A Salah blank should NOT be ruining your weekend. Becoming AWARE of your emotions is a good first step in knowing if you need to take a step back from the game.

We interviewed 15 experienced FF players and from this proposed a framework which highlights 7 key mediating factors to the FF experience, as seen in the previous image.
