This post is absolutely worth reading. It challenges those of us who are too-much-online to remember that the best approach is usually the face-to-face, broken-bread and shared-table one.
I don't like writing things like this. But I have no doubt this needed to be written. I am praying for a new day where good will, good faith, and charitable disagreement can rule the day. And then after that, changing the world. @douglaswils @canonpress.

And just to be clear: I appreciate the good intentions of this person, whom I hope sticks around so that we can have more conversations about theological books, since we both obviously care deeply about the subject. But I'm learning how to be gracious in disagreement.

I regret not reaching out to her more consistently after grandpa died. I too often made excuses to myself of being too busy or tired for a phone call. I didn't call her enough. No going back now. So let me encourage you: Call your grandparents this week, if they're still alive.

My grandmother died this morning. It was the end of a long period of illness, and I'm glad her suffering is over. She is now singing and rejoicing with her beloved husband in the presence of Jesus. I couldn't be happier for her. But at the same time, it hurts.
