(a) guidance is not law. It is guidance. EHRC codes of practice are issued under the Equality Act 2006, section 14. While they can (and will) be taken into account they are not determinative of legal position. Section 15 (4) makes that clear

The recent increase in incidents of female swimmers being photographed indecently highlights the real-life risks to women's safety and privacy of mixed-sex changing rooms. This is why the UK Supreme Court judgement is so important for women. https://t.co/x4rRwDqhds

It is the most bizarre deflection. Apparently when the SG has to meet legal requirements which are UK-wide, and has a statute, and clearly articulated case law at the highest level, to read, and its own lawyers, they can only make sense of it by talking to a UK-level politician.

Citizens should be involved in debate about law reform, but questioning the legitimacy of the judgment on misconceived grounds is irresponsible

I'm even more pissed off today about the warning to women not to be too triumphant or celebratory about the SC victory. Nobody warned men not to violently express hatred and piss all over public places as a result of the judgement. Different gendered expectations eh? 🤷
