We know the #tobaccoindustry uses #frontgroups to obscure its involvement in #science, but there is little evidence on how this affects the public’s trust in this science. Our latest paper investigates the public’s perception of industry funded science.

Rebrand imminent for #FSFW, a group still insisting it’s an independent public health body. but one that has just received $140mill from the #tobaccoindustry – totally oxymoronic.

Interested in #FSFW? Our new paper explores its science activities & how these serve to support the #tobacco industry. Conclusion =#FSFW best understood as a scientific lobby group promoting the industry's interests, akin to historical groups forcibly closed @BathTR @BryanCClift.
For our new paper, we collected data on #FSFW from 2017–2021, and used document analysis to assess if FSFW’s activities mirror practices historically used by tobacco and other industries to shape science in their own interests. This is what we found.
