If you watch the news or read @pritipatel's #newplanforimmigration it looks like the country is facing a tidal wave of refugees and that's all that matter in the conversation on #migration. A quick look to official figures gives a very different picture.

Applied for a visa to travel ‘n defend my PhD thesis in person. Was asked to provide with an evidence of employment as a proof of return to my country of residence. Thought the usual order is: PhD, defense, employment — not PhD, employment, defense; but then, call me ignorant 1/
