βTechnology doesnβt value identities, develop student agency, or inspire learning or leading. You do. Educators do.β β Dr. Sonal Patel So true! #SpringCUE

Effective teachers don't focus so much on rules, but more on relationships, routines, & expectations. If you focus mainly on rules, you will spend most of the year enforcing them. But if you focus on relationships, routines, & expectations, you rarely have to defer back to rules.

Teachers, want to take something off your plate? Put HW in the trash. Especially for elementary, let students go home, run, play, and enjoy being a child. And read a little after playing. Then they come to school recharged instead of stressed out and you will too!

There is overwhelming research showing homework does little to improve achievement, especially in early years, and can actually have negative effects. Recess however has many positive effects such as improved self regulation of emotions, improved interpersonal skills and focus!

Every superintendent and school board member should read this article. A decade of toughening teacher evaluations and tying it to standardized tests have shown no positive impact on student learning. It has only decreased morale. Stop the madness. https://t.co/SqwHUk8r7e

If students leave school without: 1) knowing their talents 2) finding their passions 3) a sense of purpose 4) confidence experienced from success 5) willing to take risks or fail because of success/ confidence then we have failed them.

Test corrections turn into a collaborative poster project. π€ Students work in teams of 3 to correct and reflect on 3 items of their choosing. Afterwards, they view other teams posters and leave comments on sticky notes π₯³ #iteachmath #mtbos

What if we took the time to help students who feel unsuccessful, lack confidence, or defeated find one strength to focus on and develop? That's not just growth mindset, but can be life changing!

We shouldnβt punish children for being children. If they sit in desks too long, donβt be surprised if they get fidgety/ talkative. Yes, thereβs a time & place for quiet, but we need more time & places for them to play, move, socialize & be children That's how they naturally learn
