Hoping to find some help here making a decision about travel plans for the weekend. Supposed to drive from St. Paul through Chicago to central IN on Saturday. Should we wait until Sunday or will that be more of the same? @svensundgaard @NWSChicago @NWSTwinCities

As an appendix to this thread, please note that I am willing to buy any number of pencils to add to the 48 I already provided. I used to buy them for my own classroom and I know they’re not cheap.

I’m all for teaching “responsibility” (though I dislike how that’s defined by most [white] folks), but the threat of shame can’t be the only way. Maybe I’m off base here and I’m open to other viewpoints or experiences, but I’m struggling with it. [the end]

This morning, when I offered to buy him a box of pencils to keep in his locker, he said “I think the policy is making me a better person because I probably would have lost one already” and my heart broke that he’s learning that losing something is a moral failing. [3/4]

My child’s thoughts are consumed by the pencil policy. I get a pencil location update every day after school, which yesterday included a description of a “breakfast for a pencil” economy system that classmates (quite brilliantly) have created. [2/4]

I’m not currently in the classroom and have a strong feeling about giving “fellow educator” sounding advice to folks who are, so I’ll speak as a mother instead: could we please consider getting rid of the “sing in the front of the class for a lost pencil” thing? [1/4]

I feel like the state of Indiana really ought to be seizing corn’s meteoric rise to fame, seeing as how the state is just one oversized corn cob, 🤷🏼♀️

Logged in here for the first time in…months??? My social media time has become mostly business-focused on Insta, and I desperately miss the community here. Also, here’s a puppy I got while I was offline.

Yesterday was the last day of my last semester working in higher Ed. I’m feeling all the feels, but mostly just deep relief. I have some loose ends to tie up, but I already feel lighter. What a bittersweet feeling.

Thank you so much for sharing! This piece is infused with so much love. ❤️
I love my community. Thanks to @teachnrun for making this lovely piece of art depicting my family's recent vacation to Disney World. I'm excited to show it to my children. They are going to be thrilled. For all of your design needs, please contact Beth at https://t.co/yEimUBrnEW

I had really thought we were over our collective obsession about the “neatness” of student handwriting, but alas. Sigh.

If you are looking for the perfect gift, I’d be honored if you’d check out my website. I’ve worked hard over the past few months to start this business and I’m loving the chance to partner with clients to create something unique and beautiful. https://t.co/3OvkzAwSxL

It’s *almost* as if it was less about parents’ rights and more about homophobia and transphobia all along. 🧐

Just an observation from my corner of the world: the conservatives who were raising HELL a few weeks ago about a proposed conversion therapy ban in my hometown and screaming “parents ought to have the right to choose treatment for their children” are awfully quiet this week.

There are people in FL, TX & other states that do not support these bills. Whole large percentages. When we say boycott the state or cut the state off, we are saying that those people. They r the ones we need to support, bc they r the ones doing the work.
