By FDA decree, Paxlovid can now be prescribed directly by pharmacists, no MD needed! Apparently, not enough Paxlovid is being prescribed..getting docs out of the way is seen as a solution. About that... Paxlovid was approved based on its benefit in the unvaxxed 🧵

11/ Bottom line: When pre-test probability is low, even a low-sensitivity test can have high negative predictive value. However, when pre-test probability is high, a low-sensitivty test isn’t good enough. → If you really think the patient has PNA, get the CT to confirm. (End)
