They now tout VB-GRAMG's promise of 125 days of work. But look at the average days of employment delivered per household under NREGA. @MoRD_GoI 's solution? Limit VB-GRAMG to a few centrally notified rural areas. A classic case of shrinking the denominator to inflate the numbers.

The protest at Jantar Mantar against the repeal of #MGNREGA stands cancelled cause the Police was adamant in not giving permission. 2 days to repeal a historic Act protecting the rights of 26 cr workers. But the Police need 10 days notice to protest! #SaveMGNREGA #SaveDemocracy

15. ICFRE wrote to the ministry. It said the “situation presents a challenge" since the lands were registered for conservation. And that their "subsequent identification” for forest clearance permits “raises concerns about procedural overlap and management of such cases”.

Can India catch up with the US, Taiwan and China in the global chip race? I look at India’s multi-billion dollar semicon push for @AJEnglish to see if the country can realistically compete or if it’s carving out its own role in the global supply chain. https://t.co/tAkdnnXhsD

🚨 The Reporters' Collective @reporters_co is making the 'Gujarat Forests for Adani' papers public. Do read my colleague @tapasya_umm's thread summaring her investigation and releasing the papers. Including the ones on which we caught the Gujarat govt lying👇.

1. Thread: We are making the documents of 'Gujarat forests for Adani' investigation public. They reveal how, on Adani's 'demand', Gujarat govt asked Centre to allow potential felling of forests reserved for PM Modi's pet conservation project. And how it finally came about.

21. When we mailed Gujarat our queries, it said “In July 2024, no request was made" to remove the land parcels. It added that since greening on the land parcels was funded by states, they were removed to avoid duplication of funding. This was a lie.

20. Since proposals go to states first, we contacted the state's nodal officer for the Green Credit Programme. He said the forest parcels reserved for greening had not been removed because anyone asked for it, but because they could not find any funders under the Programme.

19. Proposals for non-forestry use of forestlands need Union govt's approval, and are publicly available. We searched for Adani proposals on Union govt's online portal, but couldn't find any in the specific locations. This meant that the proposals had not reached the Union Govt.

18. We wanted to know where these forest lands were and what Adani group projects were proposed on them. We asked ICFRE for the geographical coordinates of the parcels. One of them lies 200m from Adani's Power Limited's Mundra Power Plant. Another one is 18 km from the Plant.
