Mari is high-key one of the most narratively important characters and has had one of the most intentional character arcs of the entire show. Her destiny as the pit girl and her shifting within and reflecting of the team hierarchy at any given moment are so important to the story.
i dont think people realize how much the smaller characters in yellowjackets matter. akilah, gen, mari, mel, travis are all important. just bc theyre less paid attention to by the writers and fans doesn't mean they don't matter any less🤷
