Disney is not promoting this show like they should. Marsai Martin is an executive producer for Saturdays. It’s a coming of age comedy about a 14 year old girl who loves to skate with her friends. You can stream Saturdays on Disney+.
The “she fell first but he fell harder” trope is so delicious. Something about the woman moving on and the guy screaming and throwing up because she’s paying him no mind always gives me a buzz.
Ayo Edebiri becomes the 3rd black woman to win Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at The Emmys.
Jackée Harry-1987
Sheryl Lee Ralph- 2022
Ayo Edebiri-2023
A lot of people on twitter and tiktok seem to not acknowledge that Rapunzel is not a movie in the works. All this racism and delusions for a movie that doesn’t exist. I look up A Crown of Wishes, a series where Avantika is playing a princess and I hardly see tweets about it.
I remember when Tati revealed Jaz “raised hell” and told those producers that the black cast mates had to arrive several hours earlier in order to do their own hair. They got a black hairstylist later but they should have had one in the beginning.
A new tween drama is coming out August 31 on Hulu (SPELLBOUND).
A 15-year-old who relocates from a small town in the US to Paris to study ballet but her dancing dream takes a supernatural turn when she discovers a book of family spells.
Marsai Martin talked about how the strike was going to affect black storytelling. It’s a repeat of 2007’s strike. It’s a shame that Disney cancelled her show, it was great.
Baby they weren’t pushing the black boys on Disney as heartthrobs and that’s okay to admit. Y’all naming Emmett from Good Luck Charlie, like please be serious.
A dramedy about sophomore Black RAs at an HBCU or PWI (still trying to decide) as they balance college, romance and dealing with all the bs that comes with being an RA. Let me cook….
Whether you like All American or not, you have to admit that it’s amazing to see a Black teen drama reach 100 episodes in this day and age. Especially if you were there in the beginning when the show almost got cancelled after season 1. Mini 🧵
Now more than ever we need to support our black shows and leads as much as we can.
There is a writers’ strike, lack of promo for black casts, and shows/movies are being cancelled/removed from streaming services.
Here is a list of movies and shows to check out: 🧵
What I liked about Charles Melton’s performance in May December is that he captured the essence of being an emotionally stunted person. All I saw was the 13 year old child that was taken advantage of.
Two examples of young actresses having the opportunity to have a lead role in a non teen drama. India was 19 when she filmed Queen Charlotte and Anya was 23 when she filmed The Queen’s Gambit. I would love to see more opportunities for young actresses.
The response to the Marsai Martin tweet is baffling. Y’all were just complaining there’s no representation for tweens now. How often do you come across a show that has a dark skin female protagonist? Even if the show isn’t for you—you can still tell your
See if I knew nothing about this movie I would think it’s a movie that involves a love triangle. I just don’t understand why Monique isn’t included any of the promotional pictures/promo in general.
I want to tell everyone to run the views and completion rate up so we can get a season 3, but then I remembered at the end of the day Netflix gonna do what they want.

I feel like they just gave up on preteen content because where was the promo for The Spiderwick Chronicles. If you have Roku, share the show with the young people in your life.
Olly Sholotan, the actor that you are. Carlton is such a nuanced character and Olly portrays him so well. I would love to see him in more stuff because he’s such a great actor. 🫂💐✨

I will always have a soft spot for On My Block because it was truly a show that got renewed due to word of mouth. A project that had no big names in them, no CGI, and it was truly one of my favorite shows at one point.
How many Black coming of age shows do we have left? Because with the current state of the CW, I don’t see how much longer All American and All American Homecoming is going to last. Grownish is ending, they cancelled The Wonder Years. We do have B&W and Bel-Air.
In The Boys, Translucent would use his powers to peep on women in the bathroom. In Gen V, his son Maverick does the same thing. A pervert just like father.

If Lisa has million number of fans I am one of them. If Lisa has ten fans I am one of them. If Lisa has only one fan then that is me. If Lisa has no fans, that means I am no longer on earth. If the world against the Lisa, I am against the world.

Honestly fuck the Rapunzel movie if that’s the response to a South Asian possibly playing the character in the future. I hope Avantika’s show gets made! It needs to be made.
You also have to look at the opportunities that are available for young black actresses. Quvenzhanè Wallis talked about how she also quit acting before getting Swagger. A lot of the projects Marsai Martin did are projects she produces. Black girls deserve more opportunities.
Strong Black Leads! Support Black Leads! Support Black creatives behind the camera!
Take some time to watch one of these shows this weekend.
Shirley starring the talented Regina King is coming out this Friday!
They are harassing a black woman for being Juliet in a stage production of Romeo and Juliet. A play most of them aren’t going to see. They hate us in every space. I can’t stand these racist mfers.
Black coming of age stories are important. Whether the show is cancelled or not shouldn’t stop you from still watching and discovering new stories.
Check out Boarders, a new show now streaming on Tubi, it’s free.
Gen V is so character based, I really wish it got more than 8 episodes. Why am I saying goodbye to my kids next week? Amazon, stop being stingy and give them 10 episodes for season 2.

On the top of my head.
Juli and Bryce-Flipped (a movie)
Ricky and Gina-HSMTMTS
Ty and Annie- Sweet Magnolias
I feel like Spelivia followed this trope at one point but I honestly can’t remember.
Colin and Penelope if done right in upcoming season.
One thing about The Boys Universe is that they know how to write some good ass villains. Do I fuck with Cate right now, no. But I can respect her. I really need her to be a menace to society next season.
