This has important implications for politics. The behavior of political parties and the media has led to a massive normalization of the far right among young people. If actors do not change their behavior, we will see an even stronger rise in far right support in the future.

New Gender Update out in @EJPGjournal. With data from the new wave of the @EESresearch, I show a strong increase in support for the far right among young voters. Especially the share of young men who consider voting for the far right has exploded.

In brief 4, @dasalgon and @swenhutter show that peaceful demonstrations have a positive impact, but even confrontational approaches do not harm public support for climate policies. Overall,a diverse range of protest tactics can coexist without jeopardizing the movement’s goals.

In brief 3, @ChristinaToensh shows that trust in government is crucial to how people perceive climate action. Higher trust in government correlates with support for measures like carbon taxes and coal plant bans, as well as for compensatory policies aiding vulnerable populations.

In brief 2, @dianebolet and Fergus Green find that the Spanish PSOE avoided negative electoral consequences of the coal phase out because the government provided financial support to affected communities and partnered with local unions to address the concerns of workers.

In brief 1 @edenhofer_jacob and @fgenovese__ ask how to design compensatory mechanisms to support people who lose from green policies. They emphasize the importance of encompassing, administratively feasible, visible, and credible measures. But they also highlight challenges.
