China is issuing a greater proportion of longer-maturity sovereign debt to secure financing, but the increase in supply risks pushing up yields and weighing on already-weakening demand.

Couple of amazing charts from Goldman Sachs on the Chinese property sector collapse. Starts are still falling, down 80% now. Cumulative drag on GDP growth since the campaign against the developers began will be ~10% (!!!) by next year

Nvidia and Huawei both published their AI chip roadmaps this year – which make clear Huawei’s chips are falling even farther behind. Nvidia's best chips today are 5x more powerful than Huawei's. By 2027 that grows to 17x. The gap isn’t closing. It’s accelerating.

It's hard not to have déjà vu in the context of the🇷🇺-🇺🇦when reading about how the Polish government-in-exile used Turkey as an intermediary with the USSR in Dec 1939 re Polish prisoners of war. The USSR claimed the prisoners were safe, yet in 1940 carried out the Katyn massacre.

I'm sorry, but this reads like 2015, not 2025. Will Europe keep pretending that China is not Russia's most important partner in the war in Ukraine? Will Europe keep pretending that the potential for a Chinese invasion of Taiwan will not reshape European security as well?

Europe can no longer accept lasting economic imbalances with China. France calls for a clear and cooperative rebalancing of trade, failing which, Europe will have to adopt protectionist measures to save jobs. Global rebalancing will be a core priority of France’s G7 presidency.

What a disaster for Germany and all other well-governed EU countries. The decision to do joint EU borrowing for Ukraine protects Russia’s frozen FX reserves and does the bidding of broken, high-debt sovereigns who use every opportunity to federalize debt.
