Thank you for watching and sharing my #TEDtalk on supporting the emotional wellbeing of #teachers, specifically in response to #secondarytraumaticstress and #compassionfatigue. I'm overwhelmed and humbled to hear how many educators can relate to it.⛓️❤️ https://t.co/DsTvgCQkSE

Teachers emotionally support our kids -- but who's supporting our teachers? In this eye-opening talk, educator Sydney Jensen explores how teachers are at risk of "secondary trauma" -- the idea that...

These refs need to be suspended. What an absolute dumpster fire of officiating. #GoDawgs

Stop comparing the candidates and look at their administration. For example, as an educator I have more faith in Miguel Cardona than Betsy Devos.

Classroom teaching is an impressive profession that takes skill, intellect, planning, talent, and passion to do well. Let's please stop acting like becoming an administrator is an upgrade. It's just a different job. Not better, and not necessarily worse.

A neighboring teacher came in just now and told me that they overheard two of my 9th grade boys talking in the hallway before I arrived. One of them sighed and said, “if only we were still reading Romeo and Juliet.” “Yeah, that was fun.” And so, yeah, I’m pretty proud of that.

Yesterday, twenty LHS seniors had the opportunity to receive eagle feathers during the feathering ceremony at the Indian Center. It was a beautiful celebration of the accomplishments of our students. Please help us congratulate them and enjoy a few photos from the event! #GoLinks

Ran into one of my "kids" from my first year at LHS today. It's 10 years later and he is now in his mid-20s. He beamed as he showed me pictures of his daughter, and I couldn't be more proud to have been his teacher. There's always something special about that first class.

Parenting is quietly whispering to your toddler, “Are you pooping?” “Yep.” “Do you want to poop in the potty?” “Nope.” 😐

When faced with change, I take a page from the book of one of my mentors and ask myself two questions: 1. What am I happy to let go of? 2. What do I want to protect? I'm asking myself these a lot lately, so sharing in case anyone else needs good reflection questions, too.

LB1402 crosses the finish line – giving eligible Nebraska students an opportunity to choose a school that best meets their needs. Thank you to Sen. Linehan for never giving up the fight for our kids or their families.

A student looked at me today and said, "Miss, your outfit is very millennial today." And I tell you what, it did not feel like a compliment. 🤔

Many districts undervalue how important it is to be in the classroom not just to observe, but to teach. I like many of the suggestions in the article, and honestly, the highest concentration of joy is in the classroom -- administrators need that, too. https://t.co/NMABLmIwXY.

A friend constantly uses the phrase "Hoisted by his own petard" (Shakespeare - Hamlet) when describing incidents of poetic justice. I don't know what it is about the phrase, but it makes me giggle every time. Is that why I'm an English teacher? I think that might be it.

The amount of negative self-talk I have about whether or not I deserve/deserved that honor is something I'll probably battle for the rest of my career, so receiving this note from a kid I love, especially on a day as unpleasant as today was, it's like miracles really do happen.🥹
