However much we lean into arguments from nature about manhood & womanhood, if we don’t consider where there are arguments from nature about the necessity of *fathers* in that formation, and the implications for life at home, as for mothers, that’s something to think about. 5/5.

Meanwhile, I’m watching my young adult daughters slowly heal, and even thrive, as their stepdad gives them the nearness, attention and love that they’ve previously not known. Their experience of God as a loving father is being shaped by their experience of an earthly one. 4/5.

Speaking anecdotally, it was only in the death of my father last year that I was finally able to come to terms with the impact of his active spiritual and emotional neglect during adolescence on my concept of God as a father, and myself as a woman. 3/5.

Does similar research indicate the same about fathers? Has such research ever even been conducted? Do children *never* have particular neurobiological need for fatherly nearness, attention and love, perhaps during puberty and adolescence? 2/5.

Irony alert - this matricentric argument should be concerning to the quarter of conservative Christianity that fights here all day and night to defend the FatherhoodNotMotherhood of God, and patriarchal father rule. 1/5.

"Research shows that a mother’s nearness, attention and love has no analog. No matter how ‘loving’ the care, how focused the attention, or how good the intentions, it is simply not true that ‘any warm body’ will do in caring for a child." @FamStudies.

That being said, another trusted friend pointed me to this piece which was a part of the very same @CTmagazine issue. It's a true, good and beautiful antidote to whatevertheheck is going on in that other one, and I highly recommend it.

A trusted friend has called my attention to the mistake I made in my post about this article. The commandment being violated is the *3rd* (against taking God's name in vain), not the 2nd (against making idols). I regret the error, made while in a state of significant agitation.

. This piece contains, *at minimum*, more astonishing violations of the 2nd commandment than I know what to do with. If this is, in fact, Christianity today, we are cooked to an everloving crisp.

MANY PEOPLE ARE SAYING — AND I AGREE — THAT I, GAVIN C. NEWSOM (AMERICA’S FAVORITE GOVERNOR) DESERVE THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE. WHY? BECAUSE OF THE “MOST INCREDIBLE MAPS IN THE HISTORY OF MAPPING” (EVEN COLUMBUS). THESE MAPS WILL END THE “VERY RIGGED” ELECTIONS, MAKE AMERICA GREAT.

Amazon just notified me that the copy of @KSPrior 's latest book that I pre-ordered in *January* is not, in fact, arriving today like they said it would. I am. displeased. Vexed. Very put out.

This should be less of a warning about putting your faith in the scientific process and more of a warning about putting your faith in *marketers* trying to sell you a product using some scientific justification.

Again, the ability to understand and address the factors that influence emotional regulation in ourselves, or in others is in itself a mark of maturity. The *absence* of this ability is what leads to psychopathy.

Any woman who's been blessed to be freed from an emotionally and psychologically abusive relationship will recognize the factors in play in this particular scenario, and the pathologizing of of the woman's response by others, and, most tragically, by herself. 2/3.

I know a lot of people who absolutely do need to hear this, so:.The inability to discern the influencing factors in an emotional outburst in an adult, let alone in a developing child, is itself a symptom of emotional developmental arrest, and it's every bit as harmful. 1/3
