Sat down with the Guardian football of the year 2025, Jess Carter, for this wonderful and insightful interview. Brilliant player, brilliant person, remarkable year on and off the pitch. It could have easily been quadruple the length. https://t.co/3VT5oJLyTX

A BIT OF A MOAN AND A PLEA.... This shouldn't need to be said but unfortunately it keeps happening again and again. I know these words will probably have no effect but it is better than just sitting by doing nothing. More and more frequently, the work of others in the game is

So grim, yet so unsurprising. We (journalists) get a lot of abusive posts/DMs on social media (I don’t mean criticism, that’s fine, I mean proper abuse/threats), it’s tough sometimes, and it’s a tiny fraction comparatively to what players and managers get day-in day-out.
More than 2,000 extremely abusive social media posts - including death & rape threats - were sent about managers & players in the Premier League and WSL in a single weekend, a BBC investigation has found. Sonia Bompastor was among those to speak to BBC 👇🏻 https://t.co/i4z4ezzuhJ

Also, the work that goes into producing the list of knowledgeable judges and getting them on board, then pulling it all together, by @m_christenson and @RichJLaverty, is STAGGERING. Very proud to work with people so dedicated to high quality coverage of women’s football.
And the top 10 is in! Thoughts? Agree? Disagree? Remember, see my earlier post about how the list is created, via combined votes of many judges and every judges list will likely look different to the final outcome. https://t.co/xxr15dS47L

FYI, important to remember how the judging works https://t.co/CHDtSqjxei. Each judge (ex-players, coaches, journos) ranks their top 40, then that informs the list. So my top 40, for example, will potentially look very different to the eventual top 40 as it’s combined.
