There was definitely a last second shakeup. Head of Sonic Team was there, and SEGA told people to tune into the show, all for what? It's the 35th anniversary + 4 years since Frontiers. Geoff must've prioritized another game last-minute. No way they weren't planning to reveal smth

My theory now is that we'll get a Heroes remake/sequel alongside movie 4, then Frontiers 2 will come out in Nov 2027. And my copium for this is that Sonic Team is cooking a game so good it'll be nominated for GOTY 2027, and that'll be Sonic's biggest Game Awards moment to date.
I'm actually starting to think 2026 will be another dead year. There's still gonna be side content like DLCs and other teasers/trailers, and maybe even a spin-off like a 2D game or Murder of STH, but I don't think we're getting anything substantial until 2027.
