Lower reactivity of BF3.OEt2 provides the sufficient temporal duration for the slow quinone isomerization to the [5c−4e] intermediate to occur at a lower temperature, favoring the [5+2] nonclassical cycloaddition over the classical [4+2] reaction. And thus comes Taiwaniadduct F.
