Due to the severe Sierra storm, Sugar Bowl is closed today, 3/2/24, due to power outages, high winds, low visibility + the closure of Interstate 80. All lift tickets, lessons and rentals for today will be refunded.
We normally reserve this channel for just ops updates, but this needs to be said. THANK YOU! A big thanks to the entire
@sugarbowlresort
ops team who got all our primary lifts open following a 91" storm. Impressive!
For the safety of our guests and staff, we have decided to remain closed again today (3/5/23) due to extreme conditions, including deep snow, low visibility and lack of resort access. We will work toward reopening tomorrow (3/6/23).
Ending the season in style. Thank you to all our guests, team and community for making 2022/23 outstanding. Now go dance on some tables like nobody is watching.
Due to the extreme conditions, we have decided to keep the resort closed today (2/28/23). A team will be onsite today digging out, so we can reopen tomorrow (3/1/23) for what promises to be an amazing pow day!
That's a wrap. Thank you all, for a wonder season. From our guests to our staff, it was truly amazing seeing everyone come together to pull this off. Have a great summer, and we will see you when the snow flies
🚨Heads Up: Tomorrow's ops are essentially a coin flip at this point. We fully plan to run the resort & will make the call early tomorrow. Look for a 5:30am update. Heavy snowfall, significant wind & closed roads could make it difficult to open tomorrow so stay tuned.
At this time, no decisions have been made about a full closure for the season, so requests for Season Pass refunds or credits are premature. Please understand, this situation is totally new, so we ask our guests to remain patient as we navigate uncharted waters.
Our famous "Boot Cam" has been buried over and over again, under nearly 60 FEET of snowfall this season. We've lost count of how many times we've dug him out this year.

CLOSED TODAY (Mon, 12.27.21) Due to the continued closure of I-80, we will not be open today. There are currently downed power lines on the interstate preventing essential employees from accessing the resort. Once cleared our team will come in & we will assess if we can open late
Calling all SB fans. We need ur help.

We are planning to reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, December 28th with tons of new snow. We do anticipate delays tomorrow due to heavy overnight snowfall, wind drifts and a lack of staff able to access the resort today for shoveling.
Mother Nature has delivered quite the storm causing major power issues. After a challenging morning, we have made the difficult decision to close for the day(12/25). Our team will continue working to dig out & prepare to reopen tomorrow(12/26). We apologize for any inconvenience.
Due to the significant amount of water and snow received over the last 36 hours, we anticipate delayed openings tomorrow (1/1/23). Make sure to over-hydrate tonight, like we have the last few days 😉
PSA to our beloved uphill community: Splitboarders & ski tourers, remember to stick to designated uphill routes, be mindful of uphill hours, and steer clear of heavy machinery. Winch cat operators are focused on their job. Assume they cannot see you!

9" overnight. The storm came in wet, leading to significant icing on the lifts which must be removed by hand. Our lift maintenance crew is on the case.
Sugar Bowl will reopen tomorrow on a delay. Due to the heavy snowfall and closed roads, we still have significant work to complete before opening. Right now, we anticipate 11:00 am would be the earliest we would open, including lifts and skiers services.
Roof shedding during large snowfall is a significant hazard. Please talk with your children the dangers, as they are drawn to piles of snow & icicles under roof lines.
@TruckeeFire
responded to a call yesterday that fortunately had a happy ending.

Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this storm, it was one for the record books. A round of applause is deserved for the entire Sugar Bowl | Royal Gorge team whose shoveling skills were taken to the next level this week.
16" during the day today. 60+ mph winds. Wind and weather will impact operations tomorrow (3/4/23). Expect delays and plan carefully if you will be on the roads. Visibility is difficult.
Mt. Disney express will open tomorrow around midday. More set-up and avalanche mitigation is needed first. Get your warm-up laps on Judah which opened today.

Similar many other resorts in the region, effective immediately, Sugar Bowl has suspended operations until further notice due to the impacts of the coronavirus. More information is available at
Will Sugar Bowl continue to operate?
Yes! This week we received official guidance from the state classifying ski resorts as outdoor recreation. Today Governor Newson issued a Stay-at-Home order; however, outdoor rec. is allowed & even encouraged during these challenging times.

Sorry for all the random "test" tweets. We are working to develop a push of operational updates from the website, direct to twitter. In the homestretch now, just want to make sure everything is ready for that first big storm!
5" of snow overnight and this storm is just getting started! We could be using the yardstick to measure by Wednesday. Plus prime snowmaking temperatures for the next several days. Opening day is scheduled for November 25.
