People get so frustrated with ads and stuff in the new OS they recall a level of "clean" that didn't exist. Windows 98 was notorious for changing the desktop to "Active Desktop" and including a bunch of partnership deals :-) Windows XP…don't get me started on media player :-)

Finally read this. It's quite good for what it is: a journalistic gloss on Apple’s manufacturing history and embedding in China. Most impressively to me, the author broke through the Apple omerta to get nearly 200 Apple employees to talk. But there are some issues. 🧵

Seattle spent millions of dollars building bike lanes and restructuring traffic flow removing right/left on red. Now most people walking or driving (98%) sit waiting at intersections. Still, cyclists (tiny set of mobility) consistently ignore their dedicated lanes and signals.
