Given the vaccine schedule I can't see myself getting out of the country until late summer when I'll probably head for Madrid so I thought I'd post a photo of mine every day until I get there, approx 200 days. Today's is from 2006 when the Cuatro Torres were under construction

3/3 The church filled up for the 2nd band, local favourites the Melton Band. They played a programme of brass band favourites that went down well with the enthusiastic audience. With a week off in the test series it meant that Jonathan Agnew could make an appearance on euphonium

2/3 The forecast bad weather meant the concerts were moved from the bandstand to the nearby St Mary's church. First on were the Kibworth band who compete in the first section and there was a pleasing quality to both their programme choices & performance.

A trip to Melton Mowbray on Sunday for a brass band double header. Lots of events are put on by the Town Estate but otherwise it's dead on Sundays largely due to a dearth of public transport options. 1/3

A 2-0 win for @CTFC1904 v @ilkestontown_fc today in a PSF. A good performance from a squad little changed from last season. Unsurprisingly it kicked off a couple of times & Ilson finished with 10 men. The linesmen were alongside the RBs which you don't see often these days

The weather today isn't conducive to sitting in a park listening to a brass band so I'll be heading to a PSF. I recall a feisty encounter on a previous occasion that Deaks took a team to Stoke Lane in pre-season.

Today it was the Friends of University Park "Party in the Park" event in the delightful Millennium Gardens. A lovely day with a decent crowd. The county's current top brass band Newstead Brass provided the entertainment. A diverse programme with some great solo performances.

3/3 There does seem to be more civic pride in Barnsley than see in many towns these days. Lots of people out enjoying themselves(Pride was on too). A great indoor market too.

2/3 There was plenty of other music going on. Among the official acts was Stannington Brass who I enjoyed. I heard the busker round the corner when I went for a coffee. He segued from Highway to Hell into the Wonder of You.

A trip up to Barnsley today for the Brassed On! festival. Top of the bill was the Grimethorpe Colliery band playing on home turf. Needless to say they played a blistering programme. The crowd was smaller than last year which will be down to unforgiving heat of the day. 1/3

When I'm in Madrid, at midday on Sunday I'm almost always at the football. On Sunday there was nothing on which gave me the chance to go to the Retiro park to listen to the Albacete Municipal Band on the magnificent bandstand. A delightful programme of traditional Spanish music

I intended to go to the brass festival in Wetherby but it was too hot. Instead I made the short trip to Queen's Park in Loughborough where the Melbourne Town Band played an excellent programme. Pleased they played several pieces written for brass as well as some pop favourites.

Given I like to make the most of my free Saturdays outside the football season, today I went to Trent Bridge for the Eng v Ind women's T20. 😑. India were excellent in all aspects of the game. Sciver-Brunt batted well for England. The rest of them, well.

Given I watch Forest's B team occasionally the temptation will be to put the B team boycott on hold for one match.

I'm trying not to pay attention to football until we get closer to the start of the season, but there's a few decent ties there. I missed out on a visit to Clay Cross last season after their fixture with Radford was switched to Staveley.
