A fantastic video taken in 1983, just before the Sheffield Midland to Huddersfield service was diverted via Barnsley. Additional footage of Sheffield Victoria and @CP_RoyalVic, Wadsley Bridge, and between Deepcar and Penistone now part of @TPT_National.

East of Sheffield Victoria part of the old Manchester Sheffield and Lincolnshire line to Retford. "If" the Woodhead Route had been kept open, we might have had a Manchester Piccadilly - Penistone - Sheffield Victoria - Retford - London Kings Cross service ??.

ORR has rejected Hull Trains’ open access proposal to run King’s Cross-Sheffield services using the East Coast Main Line via Retford. It says the plan failed its abstraction test and there was no line capacity for it without harming overall punctuality.
