The global water cycle has become more erratic and extreme, swinging between deluge and drought โ๏ธ. UKCEH contributed to the latest @WMO #StateOfWater which shows that while 2024 was dry and hot overall, some areas suffered severe drought and others multiple floods. ๐งต๐ง 1/

Wettest "Hydrological" year on record for England The year runs from the 1st oct 2023 to the 30th Sept 2024. The latest report from The UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology highlights exceptional river flow and ground water levels, The rivers in dark blue recorded exceptional flow.

After completing the #Thames Path last year when the source was further downstream, it was lovely to go back yesterday to walk the Thames & Severn Way to Stroud and see water bubbling from the ground at the marker stone! @ThamesPathNT @EnvAgency @CotswoldCanals
