An extraordinary book by Andy McNab. The passage that deals with Vinceโ€™s death I can still remember. A slow inexorable death by the sub zero temperatures at night. No proper kit to keep warm. Lest we forget as stated. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

Sorry to hear about the death of Mark Tully. Anyone who worked in India for the BBC instantly became the beneficiary of his wisdom, kindness, humour and, above all, reputation. In India Mark Tully was the BBC. An absolute giant.

Sad news: one of the great chroniclers of our times, the venerable Sir Mark Tully, the voice of the BBC in India for decades, has passed away. You were an inspiration Tully Saab for many of us: someone who loved India and its people dearly while holding a mirror to the powerful.

So letโ€™s get this straight. Reports now suggest Nigel Farageโ€™s Davos trip was funded by the family of an Iranian billionaire heโ€™s reportedly advised since 2018. Meanwhile, a few years back, Kemi Badenoch attended the WEF in an official political capacity โ€” and Reform

Perversely what 47 has done is raised or reminded us of the sacrifice, the ultimate in 457 cases these men and women have made. They were only doing their job but what a job. Thank you for service. ๐Ÿซก

The stupidest thing about this whole NATO debate is what it was actually like when we were there. It was always a team effort. We gave fire support across the Helmand river to the Danish under attack in patrol base Alpha-Xray (see pic for one of the actual guns we used), and we

Like I said today. Anyone in British politics who aligns themselves with Trump going forward is going to be damned by the British people. Rightly.

One of many criticisms of 47 on social media in the last 8 hours Appalling. I wonder whether Farage has the balls to castigate publicly his mateโ€™s behaviour or is he a sap. GB: 457 lives and 2000 life changing injuries.

What an embarrassing clown this "man" is. That a draft dodger has the neck to say this. UK had 457 KIA & 2000 WIA. โ€œWeโ€™ve never needed them. Theyโ€™ll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan โ€ฆ and they did, they stayed a little back, a little off the front lines.โ€

#Farage & all the Right WIng Media called for Angela Rayner to Resign over an Admin Error. A one-off. She did. Why then should #Farage not immediately RESIGN over 17 systematic 'admin errors', a continuation of his industrial-scale systematic fraud at the European Parliament?

Canadian Prime Minister @MarkJCarney's speech at Davos is quite brilliant. Without vitriol or exaggeration, he outlines the harsh new world that Trump is leading us all toward. Here's the full text; much recommended:

The Trump disbelief that the Norwegian govt doesn't control the Nobel process is deeply indicative of his thinking. He can't conceive that an institution could (or should) be genuinely independent of coercion or political power. That's the change he represents.
