As a salaried employee, your focus should be:
1) How to upgrade your skills
2) Networking
3) Spend time with family and friends
4) Invest through MFs
Should not be:
1) tracking every entry and exit from MF schemes
2) disclosing your portfolio in public domain as a celebrity
Met somebody, started investing (SIP) 5 months back....
asked me, what should be the return expectation in Equity MF
I said 9-12% in the longer run.
He said, you can copy my portfolio, my return is more than 30%
😁
The biggest return machine is your "career"
Concentrate on it.
I have seen people, wasting hours and hours to start a SIP which is 5% of their CTC.
Just outsource it and devote your time in "career"
Outcome will be amazing.

Real story !
A client of ours, 25 years back bought a property for 25 lakhs from, let's say XYZ.
Sold it weeks ago for 25 Crore.
Giving back 4 crore to XYZ saying the price was not fair 25 years ago (bought it cheaper than fair value).
Met someone, post tax monthly income 10 lakhs
Monthly expenses 9.50 lakh.
These expenses have zero EMI towards any appreciating asset.
I do not see any other option but to cut down on lifestyle expenses.
How do you think we should plan their retirement?

If news are to be believed - Mr Amber Dalal - Ritz Consultancy - based out of Mumbai - ran off with an estimated 1000 to 1500 Crore.

🔸22% annual return with safety of capital was promised
My views:
Onboarded a couple with 88% savings rate on post tax income - no debt - no aspirations to buy real estate. The couple just wants to take experiences in the form of holidays.
The finances of this couple will be super awesome in a few years irrespective of the market performance.
before entering your bank branch or meeting your bank RM, just take a pledge that you will not buy insurance cum investment product.

It deserves an allocation to be part of the portfolio, 5-10% for retail investors and 3-5% for HNI investors.
Not a recommendation, consult your financial planner !

All the LIC Policies which our clients have surrendered - the clients have lost money - surrender value in traditional LIC Policies is less than the sum of the premiums paid.
Not sure if LIC Policies can be surrendered in a manner where the client receives more than what he has
A couple took huge personal loans to fund the marriage. Spend all in a day.
Now, three - four years of marriage, the couple will be repaying these loans, living paycheck to paycheck.. no room for even a 50K annual weekend getaway.
Rationalize your expenses on marriage!
If you have saved 20 lakh rupees without having a health insurance and feeling good about it, let me spoil your mood, you are just one hospital bill away from going back to zero

Health Insurance companies are not scan and pay real bills
Physical Gold:
- Buy gold from reputed chain of jewellers only. Recently a friend sold the physical gold bought from local jewellers. The ornaments were embossed with 22 Carats but turned out to be 18 Carats on melting.
I don't have trust in hallmarking of local jewellers 🙆🏻♂️😬

A lot of our clients have a net worth target of 50 to 100 Crores and the recipe is simple:

🔷 Holding period in decades
🔷 High saving rate

When you guide someone for 45 mins and just to save ₹300 per year, he takes the insurance policy directly from the insurance company.
Everyone wants free advise and they do not value time of others.

Investors believed debt mutual funds are safe and can be replaced with Fixed Deposit. In September 2018, after the IL&FS fiasco, Indian investors realized how debt mutual funds are different than fixed deposit & there are risk associated.

Financial Independence is good.
The problem is with retiring early..
In my opinion, even if you have achieved 50-60% of the corpus required for financial independence, you can switch to a job with lesser work load, the job you are passionate about and purse the hobbies.
It will

Five most important points:
- No Room rent limit + No room type limit
- OPD and Maternity kind of benefits are not important
- health insurance doesn't cover everything, exclusions are there
- Disclosures are important - make sure these are disclosed in proposal
- Brand matters
SEBI should ban AMCs and MF websites from publishing trailing returns.
All should publish only rolling returns on a time scale of 1,2,3,5,7,10 years
- mentioning average and median returns
- minimum and maximum returns
It will help build realistic expectations.

If you are not financially well off, the first big expense you should rationalize is about your marriage

First and foremost, sole reason for investing in National Pension Scheme:
💡tax saving and there by a place in retirement portfolio.
If you are investing in NPS for any other purpose, you are doing it wrong.
Insurance company is a service provider, use them for transfering risk..
Assest Management Comoanies are for managing the money..
If you want the insurance company to do Asset Management for you, mind you it will be damm expensive and opaque.

I believe, both you and your spouse should save for common financial goals but the investment should be held individually as single holder in both names.

Never trust your Bank RM.

Two types of NPS Account - Tier I & Tier II
👉 Tier I Account: lock in account
👉 Tier II Account: invest and withdraw at will
Tier I Account is the account where all tax deductions are applicable.
Nothing in Tier II. Do not even open, it's useless.
In 2023 I want to read a lot about weight training, running, nutrition, sleep, personal grooming, etc.

is an excellent place to park your idle fund

- upto 5 lakh rupee of insurance on deposits from DICGC
- Availablity of funds 24X7

To all NPS Tier II subscribers who have collectively subscribed ~ 3575 Crore:
1) Are you getting any tax benefits by investing in Tier II? No
2) Are you saving for retirement? It can be done through Mutual Funds!
3) Are you getting credit card rewards? It has stopped. 😄

HDFC AMC has recently filed drafts for a 29 year G Sec target maturity fund.
Trust me, it will be 100X more tax efficient, return efficient, cost efficient, liquidity wise more better option than an "Annuity" from life insurance company.
Retirement plan from one of the famous YouTube influencer had these assumptions:
1) 15% Equity Returns
2) Inflation at 6%
