A huge win for nature. The emergency use of bee-killing pesticide Cruiser SB has been rejected. This is a crucial and long-awaited step to cutting the use of hazardous pesticides in the UK. Thank you to everyone who has supported #StandByBees. πŸ’›πŸ https://t.co/ogrBS6Cndg

Last week the government announced the first-ever pesticide reduction target in the UK as part of the long-awaited UK Pesticides National Action Plan – a commitment to reducing the environmental risk from pesticides by 10% over the next 5 years. #StandByBees πŸ’›πŸ

Happy #WorldBeeDay! These pollinators are small but mighty. They are responsible for every three mouthfuls of food we eat, pollinate more than 75% of the global crops we rely on and contribute an estimated Β£400 million to the UK economy each year. #StandByBees

This is beyond disappointing and is now the fourth consecutive emergency authorisation of Cruiser SB. We must keep pushing. We cannot allow this to be a routine authorisation for years to come. #StandByBees

This week is @DefraGovUK's #BeesNeedsWeek. Yet there is still alarming inactivity from the government when it comes to our precious pollinators. There is simply not enough being done to cut toxic pesticide use and protect our pollinators. #StandByBees

Prioritise #PollinatorsNotPesticides ⚠️ Commit to phasing out #pesticide use in domestic and urban settings, and ambitious and binding reduction targets in agriculture. Ensure pesticide products are properly tested on bumblebees and other key non-target animals. 2/7

Farmland can deliver great habitats for #bees and other pollinators. It can deliver a range of flowering plants and habitats that are available for as long as possible throughout the year. #WorldBeeDay

Happy #WorldBeeDay! 🐝 Our precious bee population is in steep decline - yet utterly incoherent Govt policy to allow neonicotinoids puts them at even greater risk. 1 teaspoon of neonics can kill *1.25 billion* bees - Govt must ban them if we are to protect bees & restore nature🌼

Govt decision to approve banned, toxic pesticide is utterly incoherent. Neonics are a poison so powerful that a single teaspoon could kill 1.25 billion bees. How on earth can Govt say it is "halting & reversing decline in nature", while pursuing such wanton destruction? 🐝@PAN_UK

Good to be in @LukePollard’s Westminster Hall debate challenging Govt’s reckless approval of bee-killing pesticides 🐝🐝🐝 Shamefully this is *3rd time* ministers have overruled scientific advice & greenlighted highly toxic neonics #AttackonNature @standbybees @Buzz_dont_tweet

We are dismayed, disappointed, and deeply concerned. UK Gov has just approved the use of a banned pesticide so powerful; a single teaspoon could kill 1.25 billion bees. This is a huge mistake. If we want to #DefendNature we must #SayNoToNeonics. πŸ‘‰ https://t.co/UXvOkcvyZ9
