Who else thinks that instead of wasting millions of tax dollars on private, for-profit agencies to provide hospitals with temporary nurses...the Ontario government should just provide ALL nurses with proper wages, permanent jobs & benefits? ✋🏾

NEW: How much are Ontario hospitals spending on temp agency nurses as they grapple with staffing shortages? Last yr @UHN spent $6.7M, ~550% more than pre-pandemic years. @Sunnybrook last year spent $8.2M, up from $4.5M in 2018. Via @SaraMojtehedz & me: https://t.co/8D2EgdNpVg

The Ontario Health Coalition says it's consulting with lawyers and calling emergency meetings with union leaders and health care organizations in order to protect public hospitals from any privatization efforts led by Premier Doug Ford's government.

SIMPLE: Ford is using our tax $ to pay for temp nurses (3 or 4 times as much) rather than giving hospital nurses more than a 1% raise? Conservative budgeting

As Ontario hospitals grapple with a staffing crisis, critics warn the rising reliance of temp agencies is not financially sustainable.

Doug Ford’s government is spending more taxpayer dollars to enrich agencies instead of just funding public healthcare. The healthcare system is being used poorly by Conservatives to weaken the public sector on behalf of their friends and donors’ private interests. #onpoli
Why are hospital nurses quitting for agencies? For Anna Seto, she's making 2x as much as an agency nurse compared to when she worked at Toronto Western. But she didn't quit because of the money. She was burnt out, feeling disrespected, upset by Bill 124, needed work-life balance.

Data shows that nurses put in the equivalent of 21 hours of work in an eight-hour shift, or 30.5 hours of work in a twelve-hour shift. They say hard work pays off...but not in Ontario. We are overworked, undervalued & disrespected. #RepealBill124 #NurseTwitter #OnHealth #OnPoli

So… we can’t pay nurses a fair wage but we can spend a fortune on an agency that hires temporary nurses a small fortune to hire those same nurses… hmmm… this is a manufactured crisis and it hurts patients and healthcare workers alike #standwithnurses

LaFlamme had "several years" left in her most recent contract at CTV, a source told Toronto Star. "Her ouster has sent a chill through the newsroom (...) The CTV National news team found out about Lisa’s departure at the same time as the public." 🤯 https://t.co/h1QX2IqsTl

What do sexism and ageism look like in Canadian journalism in 2022? Bell Media replacing a trailblazing 58 year old woman journalist as anchor of CTV's nightly national newscast with a less accomplished 39 year old man. #LisaLaFlamme

We must understand that most dictatorships are dependent on the outcome of Russia’s war. They are rooting for the free world to fail. If this happens, dictators around the globe will have a green light to redraw international borders. This will mark the end of the modern world.

The CBC will be running a mini series of one hour specials on serious issues like Federal Provincial Jurisdiction, the Notwithstanding Clause, Canada’s Rights and Freedoms and Elections. These will be designed to be used by educators. Ok I made that up, but the CBC should do it

The federal government sent Ford billions of dollars in the pandemic, and he used it on his bottom line. He didn’t reverse his cuts to nurses salaries, and the federal government is rightly concerned that if they give him more money, he won’t use it on healthcare. Again.
